University of Rhode Island Athletic Department: Noelle Simmons Named Little East Softball Rookie of the Week

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman second baseman Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) was named the Little East Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-2 week for the Anchorwomen. It is the second time this season that Simmons has received this award.
Simmons played in four games, starting all of them. She batted .533 (8-for-15) with six runs scored, eight hits, one double, three triples, two home runs and eight RBI.
She went a combined 3-for-8 with three runs scored, two triples and an RBI as the Anchorwomen split a doubleheader with Salve Regina (10-2; 5-11) on March 21. Simmons went 5-for-7 with three runs scored, one double, one triple, two home runs and seven RBI as RIC split a twinbill with Simmons (4-5; 9-1) on March 22.
For the season, she has played in 10 games, starting all of them. Simmons is batting .429 (15-for-35) with 10 runs scored, 15 hits, three doubles, four triples, three home runs and 10 RBI. She owns a 1.000 slugging percentage, a .432 on-base percentage and a .966 fielding percentage. 
Head Coach Mary Holt-Kelsch's team is currently 4-6 overall. 
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play a doubleheader at Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, March 29 (4 p.m.).
